Held up in institutional bureaucracy for many, many months (over a year, in fact) just to get a course number, I am happy to announce that Stop-Motion Animation is now a reality at AiFL. This project kicks off our maiden voyage for the class...at least that is the current plan. Things may change, though, as we have only 2 cameras and LunchBox systems to shoot the actual stop-motion animation with and about 17 students signed up for the class (not to mention the ones who are joining us outside of the roster). Of course, this is production and many contributors will be busy with elements outside of shooting- Character, Armature, Set and Prop design and construction for one.
Fun Fact: This is actually not the first time there has been a stop-motion elective at AiFL. Years ago, Professor Pier Pepin headed a class that produced a short clay animated piece about two Martial Artists duking it out in a dojo. Now, it is time to take advantage of the new technology and old-school techniques and see what mayhem we can create. I hope everyone enjoys the project and the class!
